Undergraduate Education in 3 Dimensions
Champlain’s innovative Upside-Down Curriculum has earned recognition from top college guides. Now the College has made its educational experience even more relevant.
Three-dimensional education
Champlain synchronizes three dimensions of learning: preparing for a profession (Major Dimension), learning to connect to big ideas (Core Dimension) and leading a meaningful life (Life Experience and Action [LEAD] Dimension). Rigorous? Yes. Relevant? Absolutely.
- It’s like a practicum in real life, where intellectual, practical and career challenges occur simultaneously.
- Our students shorten the postgraduate learning curve by integrating their professional studies with the interdisciplinary Core curriculum and life skills, like developing a budget.
- This three-dimensional education enables students to navigate changes in the knowledge economy, their career path and personal relationships with confidence.
- The Core includes a pioneering Global Module, which enables Champlain students to communicate with a group of students in another country about an important issue.
How it works
- Provides a springboard for your imagination—from starting your own business to making films, designing games or tracking down criminals with digital forensics
- Offers a structure that challenges you to grow and helps you benchmark your development academically, personally and professionally
- Promotes hands-on experience through internships and class projects
- Emphasizes reflecting on important questions, rather than finding the “right” answer
- Fulfills the requirement of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, the agency that reviews and accredits Champlain College, that one-third of every student’s academic program is made up of general education courses (our Core)
