Patricia Boera
A former New Yorker who adopted Vermont as “home” many years ago, Pat Boera is celebrating her 19th year as a member of the Champlain College staff and is enthusiastic about being the Career Services team member who supports the Division of Business.
Pat is a University of Vermont graduate who majored in Marketing and who uses her expertise every day to help students market themselves to prospective employers who are looking to welcome interns or employees to their team. Pat worked in the Hospitality Industry out of college, spending time on the management team of two of Vermont’s leading properties—The Tyler Place Family Resort and the historic Middlebury Inn. With this background, she strives to provide four-star service to the varied constituents who are her “customers”—students, alumni, employers, and colleagues. She was honored by her Champlain College colleagues with selection as the first recipient of the Elizabeth Durick Staff Service Award.
Because all work and no play is unhealthy, Pat works hard and plays hard. When she’s not at her office in Durick Hall, presenting workshops on campus, assisting with the LEAD and Community Book Programs, or helping facilitate the Annual Elevator Pitch Competition, you are likely to find her dedicating time to favorite community activities in Burlington and Middlebury. Pat has been a volunteer with Lyric Theatre Company since her college days, working in nearly every behind-the-scenes aspect of productions. She is also a House Captain (wrangler of volunteer “Spirits”) at the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts, a trained Audio-Describer who helps blind and visually-impaired audience members “see” performances, and a founding member of the award-winning Middlebury Summer Festival on-the-Green. Pat has been recognized for her service by two special awards—The Middlebury College Citizens Medal and the 2009 United Way Hometown Heroes Nominee Award—and hopes that her involvement makes her a good role model for Champlain College students.
