CCM 3D – Your Major, The Core, and LEAD

Dimension 1 – Your Major

Whether you choose to major in game design or graphic design and digital media or digital filmmaking or professional writing or communication or professional writing or broadcasting or public relations, rest assured that Champlain has put together a cutting-edge curriculum delivered in state-of-the-art facilities by top-of-their-game faculty. Our “upside down” curriculum ensures that you get involved in your major area of study during your very first semester, and our focus on hands-on learning combined with our growing range of professional opportunities make sure that you are well positioned for a lifetime of successes.

Dimension 2 – The Core

Champlain’s integrated interdisciplinary Core curriculum -- a common experience for all traditional undergraduate students – provides for the general education dimension of Champlain’s distinctive 3D approach. No matter which CCM major you choose, as a “content creator” your career success will depend on your abilities to think critically, to write carefully, to integrate personal, social, historical, political, economic, aesthetic, and global understanding into a professional world view. Through Champlain’s Core you will develop the habits of mind that will inform and enrich your creative practices, and you will refine your abilities to do research, to collaborate with others, and to think in an interdisciplinary way.

Dimension 3 – LEAD (Life Experience and Action Dimension)

Woven into your work in your professional major and the Core is a common thread that prepares you for a lifetime of fruitful transitions: the Life Experience and Action Dimension (LEAD). The primary components of LEAD - self-assessment, community involvement, financial sophistication and career management – help you develop your abilities to understand yourself, to make meaningful connections to others, to manage your financial affairs, and to build a purposeful and meaningful career. Nowhere are these abilities more important than in the dynamic fields of communication and creative media. As these fields continue to evolve at breakneck pace, you will depend more and more on the skills you develop in LEAD to keep you on top.
