Facilities and Resources

Champlain’s outstanding teaching and production facilities include a wide range of both Macintosh and PC-based rooms, all of which are available to CCM students on a 24-hour basis. Our Macintosh design classrooms in the Ireland building (rooms 012, 014 and 015) and Hauke building (room 208) accommodate our courses in graphic design and digital media, interactive media, and media production.

Game design and game art students spend most of their time in the PC-based facilities in Hauke 008 and Foster 104. These rooms are accessible on a 24-hours basis and are outfitted with top-of-the-line machines and software, including game consoles and graphics tablets. Game students also have access to 4 private editing/production rooms in Ireland 015.

Traditional art spaces are located in the Hauke building. Room 208 holds classes in drawing and sculpture (including our regular life drawing sessions), and Room 205 houses our photo lab and darkroom facilities. Our students are also able to take advantage of a partnership between Champlain College and Burlington City Arts where, just a few blocks from campus, our students have access to painting, print making and out traditional arts facilities.

Digital filmmaking students take advantage of a dedicated film classroom in Foster 101, 4 non-linear editing suites in Ireland 015, and a sound stage/studio in the Alumni Auditorium building.

Students studying broadcasting and media production have access not only to our classrooms and labs, but also to our audio editing suite and web radio station located in the Alumni Auditorium building.

Media Services - CCM students have the ability to check out and use a wide range of production equipment, including professional quality and pro-sumer video cameras, light kits, audio kits, steady cams, and more.

Emergent Media Center – Students from a wide range of CCM majors (especially game design and game art) spend time working at the Emergent Media Center in Winooski (about 10 minutes away from campus). Set up in the same way as a game design studio, the EMC provides outstanding workspaces for students engaged in EMC projects.
