"Careers that matter to people"—that is how one student describes the focus of programs in this division. Encompassing many different professions, our majors attract students who care about others: the born educator, the natural confidante, the team player.
From the first day, you benefit from your faculty's expertise and connections. Robert Simpson, J.D., who served as Vermont's Assistant Attorney General and Chittenden County State's Attorney, has developed a pioneering course on securing digital evidence. Dr. Linda Rodd is introducing a new course on The Psychology of Altruism and Agression. Kathy Leo-Nyquist is well-known in the region as a reading specialist, Colin Ducolon has been educating educators for thirty-five years, Laurel Bongiorno is president of the Vermont Association for the Education of Young Children, and Fred Koch is a Social Work veteran.
Expect to amass significant experience: Education students are in the classroom with children every year from their first semester, Criminal Justice students can spend a semester at the VT Police Academy, and Applied Psychology students will create a resume that helps them refine their career goals. As a result, our alumni succeed in many fields, as well as law and other graduate programs.
