Message from the Dean
Welcome to the Division of Information Technology and Sciences (ITS). What a great time to be interested in the field of information technology and sciences. This field is constantly changing, creating both challenges and excitement. Today's students have access to new technology on a daily basis. However, having access to technology or being able to use technology doesn't necessarily mean that one understands how the technology works or is designed. In the ITS Division, our faculty and staff are ready and willing to work with you and help you succeed. Our faculty are here to challenge our students to reach their full potential by helping them become problem solvers, system designers, and technology professionals of the future. We are always seeking ways to educate and train our students to be the next generation of leaders.
Within the ITS Division, we offer a range of undergraduate degree programs:
-
As a Computer & Digital Forensics student, you'll learn about the law, the digital investigative process, and computer and network technology.
-
As a Computer Information Technology major, you'll become skilled in multiple computer-related areas, including programming, Web design, networking technology, database design and application customization, project management, and technical communication.
-
As a Computer Networking and Information Security major, you'll become skilled in designing and creating efficient information technology networks, configuring and maintaining servers, and providing the technical management and support to keep them running and safeguard the systems and the data they control.
-
As a Game Programming major, you'll become immersed in all aspects of the game development cycle throughout the program, gaining a full spectrum of experience with design and art teams. You'll have career options beyond the electronic gaming industry. The Game Programming curriculum will provide you with the education and experience to pursue careers in a wealth of industries-from aviation and aerospace to health care and the military-which require the development of simulation-type software, in addition to traditional programming environments.
-
As a Radiography you'll gain extensive clinical experience at the campuses of Fletcher Allen Health Care (multi-disciplinary medical facilities in Chittenden County) and Northwestern Medical Center (a Level II trauma center in St. Albans).
-
As a Software Engineering major, you'll develop the basic skills you will need to build software applications using today's most common programming languages.
-
As a Web Development & Design major, you'll be exposed to all aspects of the field, from Web and database design to setting up a live site for a client. You'll develop technical, problem-solving, communications and teamwork skills that will prepare you to join a team of designers or start your own business.
If you are interested in the ITS Division but have not decided on a major, you can enter in the "Undeclared" category, and we will help you sort out your goals and preferences.
The ITS Division also offers a graduate degree program (Master of Science in Managing Innovation & IT) which is designed for the working professional. The integration of the course content with what you're doing at work ensures that your studies will have an immediate, significant impact on your professional life.
Please don't hesitate to contact the program director of the program that you are interested in pursuing, or you may contact me at rafieymehr@champlain.edu if you have any questions about any of programs that are offered in the ITS Division.
Sincerely,
Ali Rafieymehr, Sc.D.
