Full-Time Employee Benefits

- Administrative Staff Vacation: Full-time entry-level employees receive 10 vacation days per year for the first year. After 1 year of service employees receive 15 days per year and after 5 years of service employees receive 20 days per year.
Professional positions are eligible for 20 days of vacation per year, and 25 days after 15 years of service. Vacation is accrued over an academic year (September 1 - August 31).
Up to five vacation days may be carried over from one year to the next. Vacation is pro-rated for eligible part-time employees. - Faculty Vacation: Follows the academic calendar.
- Personal Days: Full-time faculty and staff are eligible to receive up to 2 personal days off per year. Eligible part-time staff receive 1 day per year. Accrual year is September 1 - August 31.
- Sick Leave: All full-time employees accrue 1 day per month and may accumulate up to 150 days total. Accrual year is September 1 - August 31. Eligible part-time staff accrue sick leave on a pro-rated basis.
- Holidays: Each year the College gives 9 paid Holidays to full-time employees. They typically include: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Columbus Day, 2 days at Thanksgiving, and Christmas day. Eligible part-time employees receive a half day.
- Jury Duty: The College pays normal base pay while an employee is on jury duty.
- Tax Sheltered Annuity: Employees can defer pre-tax income into the College's 403(b) plans and receive a 2:1 matching contribution from the College up to 10% (if an employee defers 5% the College will match 10% of base pay). Full and part time employees who work over 20 hours per week (at least 1,000 hours per year) qualify to participate on the first day of the month following their date of hire.
Adjunct faculty and qualifying part time employees are eligible to defer pre-tax income into the College's 403(b) plans without a matching contribution from the College. - Medical Plan: The College offers an Open Access Plus (OAP) plan with a national provider for full-time employees and their eligible dependents. The College covers approximately 60% of the cost of the premiums.
- Dental Plan: The College pays 100% of the premium for dental insurance for full-time employees and eligible dependents with a national provider.
- Flexible Spending Account Plan: Allows employees to pay their portion of health insurance premiums and non-insured, out-of-pocket medical expenses and dependent day-care expenses with pre-tax dollars.
- Long Term Disability: The College pays 100% of the premium which provides income replacement of 66 2/3 % of an employee's basic monthly earnings after an employee has been disabled for 180 days.
- Term Life Insurance: The College provides term life insurance equaling two and one-half times the annual base salary.
- Employee Assistance Program: All employees and their family members residing in the employee's home may utilize the assistance of a third-party provider to help resolve personal difficulties.
- Tuition for Family Members: The children and spouse of full-time employees are eligible to take Champlain College undergraduate courses tuition free on a space available basis.
- Employee Tuition Reimbursement: For educational study at other institutions, full-time employees can be reimbursed each contract year for one-half the tuition up to a maximum of 9 credit hours. To earn their degree at Champlain College, employees are normally permitted to take courses in the evening or on-line.
- Tuition Exchange: Dependent children of both full-time employees and retirees can participate in the international scholarship exchange program from over 600 participating colleges and universities based on an employee's longevity and the College's accumulated points.
- Health and Fitness: Employees have access to The IDX Student Life Center which features a full-sized gymnasium, fitness center, multi-purpose recreation room, locker rooms, and a dining room. The College also provides Olympiad fitness center memberships to full-time employees.
- Ride CCTA Free: Provides free transportation on the Chittenden County Transportation Authority bus system.
- Emergency Travel Assistance: Provides help in the case of a medical emergency when traveling for business or pleasure in a foreign country or more than 100 miles from home.
- Credit Union: The Caswell Credit Union is available to employees for checking, savings, loans and credit cards.
- Library: Employees have free use of the Champlain College Library. To broaden the immediate availability of library resources, Champlain College has extensive on-line resources as well as agreements with several other local college libraries to extend borrowing privileges to students, faculty and staff of each college.
- Computer Purchase: Employees may purchase a computer through a two-year, interest-free payroll deduction plan.
- Financial Planning: Full-time employees are eligible for retirement financial services through an external financial planning provider in Burlington.
