Roger Perry Endowed Chair: Cities of Refuge Writers in Residence
Pierre Mujomba - Visiting writer
Champlain College has partnered with the Cities of Refuge program to establish Burlington as a city of refuge, a safe place for persecuted writers to resettle. Other cities of refuge include Pittsburgh, Ithaca, and Las Vegas.
Pierre Mujomba is a Congolese playwright, BA and MA in French and African linguistics from Kinshasa National College of Pedagogy, Democratic Republic of Congo
Has received several national awards in DRC in literature, theatre, and culture; plays have been read and staged at various international venues
Most recently at Brown University, visiting fellow in Department of Africana Studies, as well as a consultant at MIT and BU on African linguistics
At Champlain, Pierre will guest-lecture in classes, as well as offer a public lecture or two, and perhaps will teach in the spring semester.
