Keynote Speaker: Christopher Gergen
Author: Life Entrepreneurs
What is Sophomore Symposium?
Sophomore Symposium is the kick-off activity for Year 2 of LEAD, focusing on lifelong career management. The symposium features a keynote by an author whose book the students will have read over the summer and will include conversations and workshops to further explore the book's concepts.
Sophomore Symposium 2009:
In July of 2009 all second-year LEAD students were mailed a copy of Life Entrepreneurs to read over the summer. Along with the book, students were asked to mark specific passages with designated page flags. These flags will form the basis for discussion of various themes and ideas at Sophomore Symposium, following the keynote speaker address. Students will also be able to meet the author and have their books signed. Students who would like to send a question for the author can email:lifeent@champlain.edu.
Fall Sophomore LEAD Requirements:*
- Read Life Entrepreneurs over the summer.
- Use the enclosed page flags to mark passages outlined on the bookmark.
- Attend Sophomore Symposium: Sunday, October 18, 7:00-9:30PM.
* All listed components are required in order to register for spring courses.
In order to prepare for Sophomore Symposium 2009, students are asked to take the Life Entrepreneur Personal Assessment here: www.lifeentrepreneurs.com
While reading Life Entrepreneurs ask yourself:
- What are the things that are most important to you?
- How can you continue to be awake to changing job opportunities in a fast paced world?
- Where do you see yourself five years down the road? Ten?
- Who are the people who can help you get there?
