Outdoor Adventure Program

July of 2008 marked Champlain's first annual Outdoor Adventure Program. Twenty-two incoming first year students, five orientation leaders, and Lisa Mazzariello, the director of our Student Life Center, headed away from Burlington for a weekend retreat near one of the local mountains. Students spent the weekend getting to know each other, getting questions answered about Champlain, and creating a foundation for their next four years. Much of the weekend was spent outside hiking, partaking in various activities, and in general- HAVING FUN!

"I was a little nervous about college during the summer, not knowing what it was going to be like, but after OAP, I was so ready, and excited!"
-Patience Hurlburt-Lawton, 2012
This summer started our program off small, but we have expanded our Summer Launch Program into four opportunities. We believe that our Summer Launch Program is a vital part of our students' transition, as it lays the ground work for a more well equipped student at Champlain.
