From the kitchen to the control room
Having worked for 15 years in the culinary business, Abram Corbett realized one day that, creatively, he hit a wall. "When you're a chef, you have the opportunity to be very creative, but it's limited to the plate. I wanted to expand my creativity and share it with others," he says. Expanding on a long-time hobby creating videos, he enrolled in Champlain's broadcasting program, where he eventually worked in the control room during the taping of Late Night Saturday with Tom Cavanaugh. "This school is a breeding ground for success. It's fertile soil. You take what you've got in you and you let it blossom."
Abram was impressed by the time and commitment Champlain faculty were willing to give him. He credits professor Nancy Kerr for being an invaluable resource as he learned broadcasting. "Nancy was contagious with her enthusiasm and relentless encouragement."
