Hard work is fun when you design games
Though he started off as a multimedia and graphics design major, Nick Malutama made the switch to gaming, and hasn't looked back. He's been hard at work creating graphics renders using the latest industry-standard digital rendering software, Maya. "There is still so much of the software package I need to learn," he says with a laugh. "I feel like I've already learned so much, and I've gotten through maybe 25 percent of the entire suite."
Nick values the team-oriented feel in his gaming major, encouraged by his professor Josh Buck. "The course work is hands-on, and our teamwork on various projects gives us a good idea of the level of communication necessary to accomplish such a big task," he says. Nick spent a semester studying game programming in Montreal, and eventually hopes to land a dream gig at one of the major animation studios: Disney Interactive or Dreamworks.
