Jenica Norrish
B.S., Public Relations, '08
Vernon, British Columbia, Canada
Why Champlain?
Public Relations program, Upside-Down curriculum, location of Burlington
Career goal: work in public relations, possibly specializing in travel.
Writing her future
When Jenica began her internship for Professor Gary Scudder’s Global Modules initiative, which links Champlain students with classrooms abroad, she wrote articles and completed a media kit. Then “we traveled to the University of Jordan, whose students talk with Champlain students as part of the initiative.”
“I did a blog when I was there and wrote a travel portfolio based on my experience,” says Jenica. “[Professor] Tim Brookes is well-known for his travel writing, so he was a perfect resource. Besides travel writing, I’m taking photography and communications this last semester, and it feels like all the ‘puzzle pieces’ are coming together.” What’s next? Perhaps her dream job: working for the 2010 Winter Olympics in British Columbia.
Extracurricular activities:
gardening, fitness, music, scouring travel media, learning more about online PR, international news
