Mock crime scenes to prepare for the real world
Though Paul Altenburg arrived at Champlain undecided about his major, his Upside Down curriculum helped him decide to study criminal justice. Specifically, it was his good relationship with his criminal procedures professor, Bob Edwards, that really got him excited for his future career. "He really stood out," says Paul. "Even though he was then the program director, he was my go-to guy."
Paul has been immersed in criminal justice, staging mock crime scenes and writing case study assignments on forensic science. He worked part time at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) while attending Champlain, building federal experience as he works towards his goal of becoming a criminal investigator at the Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF).
