High School Counselors
We know that high school counselors play a large part in the college selection and application process. To help assist you in that role, we've compiled a list of important information that you might find useful as you advise your students. Here you will find links to the Common Application and Champlain supplement, downloadable forms, admission criteria and deadlines. Take a look at our student blogs and profiles to get a first-hand glimpse at what it's like to study and live at Champlain.
We also encourage you to visit our campus. This is a great opportunity to learn more about Champlain College, take a tour, meet with an Admission Officer and experience beautiful Burlington, Vermont.
Champlain has done a good job of anticipating the future—from our Upside-Down Curriculum to our timely, market-responsive majors and our emphasis on global literacy. Now the college has broken new ground with its pioneering three-dimensional education. This approach synchronizes three dimensions of learning: preparing for a profession, connecting to big ideas through a rigorous academic Core and learning the skills needed to lead a meaningful, well-managed life. What kind of students do best in this unique educational environment?
- Students who thrive here like to combine hands-on learning with intellectual challenge.
- Many students bring an intellectual passion—creating art or film, designing or programming games, solving white-collar crime, writing professionally—but we also offer undecided students plenty of guidance as they explore possible majors.
- Every student can find a niche, from service to snowboarding.
- Champlain’s affinity groups are not cliques, and group learning in our Core curriculum gives students a chance to learn about each other’s interests and hone their teamwork skills.
- Special scholarships—New American, Vermont First, Single Parents—assist prospective students who might otherwise not have a chance at a private education.

The Champlain Experience for School Counselors
For the 39th summer, Champlain College is again hosting guidance counselors for what we consider to be the best guidance counselor program in the country. In addition to experiencing one of the nation's best summer destinations, you will experience attributes of Champlain College firsthand; sample, taste and dine on the best Vermont can offer, take a guided tour of our beautiful campus and further your professional knowledge through the following seminars:
- Enrollment management
- Next phase of Technology in the workplace
- Education challenges of those coming from extremely rural surroundings
Students love our Victorian era mansions, and we are confident you will enjoy them as well. The dates for this year's program are July 23-24 and July 30-31. We are reserving one of our residence halls for visiting guidance and college counselors and their immediate families. We encourage sending in your request for reservation early as spaces are limited. You will receive notification of your reservation once we review all requests.
We look forward to welcoming you to our campus this summer!
