Presidential Direction

• Focus on Financial, Racial/Ethnic, Geographic Diversity
• Need both short-term and long-term (5 to 10 years out) goals and recommendations
• Recommendations need to include diversity of student body, faculty and staff as well as the Board of Trustees
• Champlain College diversity is increasing but inadequate
• There are no magic numbers or quotas
• Want our community to be an environment of inclusion
• Need to provide richer opportunities for people of different viewpoints to interact
• Need for "others" to become "less foreign;" we are all "others" 
• We will all learn more by hearing different histories
• More diverse community may be less comfortable and our recommendations need to plan for that potential outcome
