The documentary "Dream, Girl," the inspiring new film showcasing the stories of inspiring and ambitious female entrepreneurs will be shown at Champlain College on Thursday, Nov. 17 , at 5 p.m. in the Alumni Auditorium. The event is sponsored by Build Your Own Business ( BYOBiz,), The Women & Gender Center and the Stiller Women in Business Group. The screening is being underwritten by Mary Evslin, a Champlain Trustee and successful entrepreneur. Following the film, Evslin will share her own experience building several successful ventures, including one if the originators of voice over internet phone service.
Filmmakers say the goal of "Dream, Girl" is to tell the untold stories. "We know the names of Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Mark Zuckerberg. But what about the female entrepreneurs? What's their story? From brand new startups to million dollar industries, it's time we stop telling girls they can be anything they want to be and show them what it means to be a leader."
The film's website adds more details: "The film focuses on five women each at a different stage in their lives and stories as founders. We hear their experiences as female entrepreneurs, from being underestimated by their male counterparts, to getting the courage to take the leap and quit their nine-to-fives, to finding funding and financing for their start-ups, and taking a break from their careers to focus on their families. Each woman has an authentic story unique to her individual experience, yet we learn our stories are interconnected in ways that uplift us all, in business and in life."
The film showing is free and open to the public. Learn more about the film at http://dreamgirlfilm.com/
