Champlain View Looks at Global Studies and Fundraising Successes

Champlain View Fall 2013 Issue

The 2013 Fall/Winter issue of the Champlain View magazine is now available online and in print. Sporting a new design, the Champlain College magazine focuses on international study opportunities, a report on the successful Vision Innovation Passion Comprehensive Campaign that raised $34 million, and updates on College programs, students, and alumni.

The cover story on international study abroad programs, written by Kayla Hedman '14, highlights the global educational experiences offered through traditional and non-traditional programs. Champlain offers a MS degree program in Emergent Media in Shanghai, has partner programs in Morocco, Argentina, New Zealand, and China, and encourages students to study abroad at the College's campuses in Montreal and Dublin.

Stories include profiles of International Business major Julia Haass '15 and Core Professor Miriam Horne; stories of a sustainable student-led project in Haiti and a 10,000-mile journey in the Mongol Rally by adventurous 2013 graduates; and an essay about the "Wow!" factor of faculty-led trips by Rob Williams, Ph.D.

Vision Innovation Passion, a five-year comprehensive fundraising campaign, celebrates raising $34 million with reports from campaign leadership, profiles of top donors, a look back at the campaign effort, and report on how the funds will be used for scholarships, new facilities, and programs.

The Champlain View also includes recent awards, people in the news, alumni updates, photos from commencement, convocation, and information on new giving opportunities.

The Champlain View magazine, published twice each year (spring and fall) by the College, has been restored to its full 8.5x11 inch size after a brief experiment in cost-cutting measures during the Great Recession. The magazine was also redesigned to match the current branding style guidelines used on the College's champlain.edu website and marketing materials.

"We think that the expansion couldn't come at a better time. We need more space to tell the stories and great news coming out of the College," said Editor Stephen Mease, director of public information and news at the College. "We encourage reader feedback to the new look and suggestions for future stories," Mease added. Email your ideas to smease@champlain.edu.

The digital View is available online on Issuu.com at http://bit.ly/1btOnDs. Many web extras including videos, extended interviews, and photographs will soon be available at www.champlain.edu/view.

Print copies of the Champlain View are available around campus and at the Alumni Office in the Miller Center at the Lakeside campus. To be added to the mailing list, contact the Champlain College Office of Advancement at (866) 421-7170 or at alumni@champlain.edu.
