Champlain Student and Vermont Native Lindsay Bumps is @THISISVT

Each week ThisisVT.com chooses a Vermonter to tell their story through the @THISISVT Twitter feed, and since Nov. 26, Champlain College senior Lindsay Bumps has been the voice behind the Twitter handle. Bumps will use her week as @THISISVT to have Vermont-based conversations, integrating her professional and student life. "I believe that VT is a unique state with wonderful people," she said. "I can easily say that I'm proud to be a Vermonter!"

So far Bumps has shared photos of Vermont's first snowfall, her love of maple syrup, "VT's liquid gold," and local deals from Cyber Monday. There's much more in store in order to get to know her, as well as the character of Vermont.

Learn more about Lindsay Bumps:

"I grew up in Woodstock, VT and have lived in Vermont my entire life. Vermont has been and still is my only home. I started my professional career with a degree from Vermont Technical College (VTC) in Veterinary Technology. I have been working in the veterinary profession for six years as a certified veterinary technician (CVT). My duties include anything a human nurse would do, but for animals. I love what I do, but I wanted more.

"My first job out of VTC was at Country Animal Hospital in Bethel, VT. I had the opportunity to be involved in the business and helped the hospital manager with website maintenance, newsletter writing/designing/publishing, planning open houses, helping with scheduling, and creating other promotional material. It was this work that sparked my interest in public relations.

"My new found passion lead me to Champlain, where I am currently pursing my second degree in Public Relations with a strong emphasis in Marketing. While at Champlain, I was lucky enough to be a communications intern at Healthy Living Market two summers ago, which is where my real passion for social media started.

"Ever since, I've had a strong interest in social media. I now work at Essex Veterinary Center as a senior veterinary nurse/marketing & social media manager, all while attending Champlain full-time.

"In addition, my experience also includes managing PR for a local rally racecar driver, graphic/logo design for the Essex Dog Days of Summer, and consulting and marketing a new veterinary acupuncture business in conjunction with Essex Vet."

Follow Lindsay as @THISISVT until Dec. 3.
