Cooperrider Center Plans Open House

BURLINGTON, Vt. -- The David L. Cooperrider Center for Appreciative Inquiry at Champlain College will hold its "almost one-year anniversary" open house on Thursday, Oct. 8 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the S.D. Ireland Building with visiting Honorary Chair, Dr. David Cooperrider.

Based in the Robert P. Stiller School of Business at Champlain College, the Cooperrider Center offers a full range of educational programs, research, Appreciative Inquiry (AI) certification and custom collaborative learning partnerships for companies, organizations and corporate. It is the only academic-based center in the world that focuses directly on Appreciative Inquiry and its implications for positive organizational development and management.

Thursday's open house will include a chance to meet David Cooperrider, the honorary Chair of the center, and tour the Cooperrider Center offices and its new design lab. Professor Lindsey Godwin, Stiller School of Business Dean Wesley Balda and Champlain College President Donald Laackman will speak about the center and its current programs and plans for the future.

"We have an extensive network of certified AI practitioners with wide-ranging corporate and nonprofit histories and competencies who can design and facilitate strengths-based change anywhere people work and serve," explained Balda.
The David L. Cooperrider Center for Appreciative Inquiry opened in November 2014 and is named for Dr. David L. Cooperrider, the world-renowned thought leader on Appreciative Inquiry.

"David chose to work with Champlain because of the College's innovative spirit and willingness to support the philosophies of AI and Positive Organizational Development," Godwin said. Additionally, Champlain College is striving to establish itself as a global education leader on the forefront of AI research and development.

The Cooperrider Center was made possible through the transformational $10 million gift from Robert and Christine Stiller in 2012 to support programs in Appreciative Inquiry. The Cooperrider Center is one of a number of Centers of Excellence at Champlain College that offer a unique education model for students that combines hands-on learning and skill development working in collaboration with faculty, professional staff, other students and real-world clients seeking business or organizational solutions.
