Champlain Named ‘Most Innovative School' in North By US News 2016 ‘America's Best Colleges'

Champlain College has been named the #1 "Most Innovative School" in the North in U.S. News and World Report's "America's Best Colleges" 2016 ranking released today. The College held steady at #14 in the overall list of "Best Regional Colleges in the North."
Other accolades from the well-known magazine's rankings include Champlain being cited as #9 on the list of "Best College for Veterans," and one of six "A+ Schools for B Students in the North" because Champlain offers a learning environment that rewards both spirit and hard work in a broad and engaged student body. Champlain College Celebrates Opening of Center for Communication and Creative Media
Champlain College began a new era of creativity and the arts on Saturday, Sept. 26 with the official opening of the College's new Center for Communication and Creative Media (CCM) at 375 Maple St. "This is the gateway to the campus," said President Donald J. Laackman, "and will provide collaborate space for students, faculty and others to gather in and out of the classroom."
The four-story, 42,000 square foot addition to the existing Hauke Center and Alumni Auditorium serves as the formal entrance to campus and the academic home of the Division of Communication and Creative Media. The CCM building also provides faculty offices and classrooms, video game and graphic design labs, studio spaces, a sound film making and broadcast media production stage, art gallery and a collaborative media hub.

Champlain College Brings truED to Nation's Largest Employer to Narrow Skills Gap in Mission Critical Occupations
Champlain College has formed an alliance with the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) to bring its online programs to the Federal government's more than two million employees. Through truED®, Federal employees, their spouses and legal adult dependents will pay up to 70 percent less than standard tuition rates for the College's online programs and can make monthly tuition payments under Champlain College's unique payment model.
Under the alliance, Federal employees and their families worldwide will be able to affordably pursue more than 60 certificate, bachelor's and master's degree programs in high-growth, in-demand and mission-critical fields. This is Champlain College's 57th truED alliance in both public and private sectors. Organizations including Cisco, Seventh Generation, and AT&T already look to Champlain College to provide employees with career-relevant educational programming.  Read more

FBI Chief Says Bureau Needs Cybercrime Fighters
The head of the FBI used a Friday visit to Vermont to urge college students studying ways to fight cybercrime and conduct digital investigations to take their talents and training to the FBI.
FBI Director James Comey toured Champlain College's Leahy Center for Digital Investigation, and afterward said every type of threat the FBI now confronts has an Internet component.
