Inspiring, Energizing and Leading Students to the High Road is a Job that Never Stops
(Read more of this article)

As part of its mission, Champlain College strives to create a physical and intellectual environment in which students have the freedom to grow, are challenged to realize their full potential, and are guided with insight and understanding in preparation for their role in their profession and their community.

Our Standard of Conduct has been developed so that you will know what the College expects of you and, in turn, what you can expect from the College.

There are four guiding principles:

  1. Respect for all students, faculty, and staff as well as our surrounding community and neighborhood
  2. Respect for the academic mission and integrity of the institution
  3. Respect for and compliance with local, state, and federal laws and statutes
  4. Respect for the physical facilities of the institution

The full text of our Standard of Conduct is found in the student handbook, The Rudder, http://my.champlain.edu/public/advising/pdfs/student_handbook_05.pdf

Residential Life

Champlain StudentsThe Residential Life Program at Champlain offers more than a great place to live. Special activities throughout the academic year give every residential student the opportunity to learn something new, have fun, give to others, and meet other students.

Community Service

Each residence hall participates in service projects. This may include:

  • Blood drive
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • Food and clothing drives
  • Visits to children and elders in hospitals
  • Adopt-a-Family

Social Activities

Residence Hall activities provide a refreshing change of pace from the classroom. Many activities are organized by the Resident Assistant (student RA) in conjunction with the adult Head Resident; others are impromptu and connected with the many music venues, restaurants and coffee houses just a few minutes' walk away in downtown Burlington.

Housing

Champlain students live in restored Victorian-era mansions with fireplaces, period woodwork, and charming bay windows. The largest dorm houses around 50 students and the smallest houses just 10, so you'll feel like you're part of a close-knit family.

As a resident on the Champlain campus, you can:

  • Choose among co-ed, single-gender, and theme residence halls.
  • Dial friends, family, or faculty from your dorm room phone, which has a private line, personal voice mail, and message-waiting signal.
  • Connect your own personal computer directly to the campus network and the Internet via the fiber-optic line in your dorm room.
  • Participate in ski trips, games, dances, road trips, contests, and more arranged by your activities director.
