Dr. Abramson was appointed as Provost in July 2007. She has been with Champlain College for 18 years, serving as interim provost, interim dean of the Division of Information Technology and Sciences, and the College's math and science coordinator. She has also been a professor of biology and the director of Champlain's former overseas program in Israel.
In her role as the Chief Academic Officer at Champlain, Dr. Abramson provides leadership for internal operations to ensure the delivery of a first-class academic experience. The College is a leader in educating students to become skilled practitioners, effective professionals and global citizens.
She is responsible for providing visionary leadership to Institutional Assessment, Study Abroad, New Program Development; Academic Divisions of Communication and Creative Media, Core, Education & Human Studies, Information Technology & Sciences, The Stiller School of Business, our graduate programs; as well as Academic Resources & Library, BYOBiz, e-Learning, and the Registrar's Office, The Provost oversees associate provosts, deans, directors of academic programs and resources including budgets and NEASC accreditation. Dr. Abramson works closely with the President and the Board of Trustees as well as business and community members.
Dr. Abramson earned a doctorate in cell and molecular biology from the University of Vermont and her undergraduate degree in biology from State University of New York at Binghamton. Her research work has included a postdoctoral research fellowship for the American Heart Association of Vermont, a National Institutes of Health Pre-doctoral Environmental Pathology Research Training Grant, and a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the National Cancer Institute's Frederick Cancer Research Facility.
