John Rogate earned a BA in English and Economics from Herbert H. Lehman College, and a master's degree in Information Systems Management from Iona College. He also earned Education Specialist Certification from Nova Southeastern University, where he is currently completing his dissertation for a PhD in Computing Technology in Education.
At Champlain, Rogate fulfills several academic and administrative functions. In addition to teaching numerous classes, he is the program director for the bachelor's program in Electronic Game Programming. He has been a major developer of the Champlain College Online programs.
Before coming to Champlain, Rogate worked in the IT industry in a variety of capacities, from programmer and systems analyst to information systems manager. He spent 12 years with Digital Equipment Corporation, working in both manufacturing and sales and as an IT manager and senior consultant. Immediately prior to coming to Champlain, Rogate was president of Vermont Technology Exchange Company (VTEC), which provided both hardware and software solutions to businesses in Vermont and across New England. VTEC was listed as one of the top 100 companies in Vermont.
