I received my B.Sc. degree in Computational Mathematics and Applied Software from China Jilin University in 1993, the M.A.Sc. and Ph.D degrees in Computer Engineering from University of Montreal - Ecole Polytechnique in 2007 and 2008, respectively. During my studies, my first son Caleb was born in 2004.
I had been working as Software Engineer and Business Analyst at China Construction Bank from 1993 to 2001. After immigrating to Canada, I spent one year to learn French from scratch. In 2003, I was enrolled at University of Montreal— Ecole Polytechnique as a Master Degree Student. At the same time, I started working as Research Assistant at Mobile Computing and Networking Research Laboratory. From September 2003 to May 2009, I served as Lab Teacher at the Computer Engineering and Software Engineering Department of Ecole Polytechnique of Montreal. Since January 2004, I worked for Ericsson Research Canada as an Intern Associate Researcher. In April 2005, I was successfully admitted to the Integrated Ph.D program without Master's thesis defense. In August 2008, I finished my studies with a Ph.D degree in Computer Engineering and Major in Computer Networks & Mobile Computing.
After graduation, I worked as Project Manager for an engineering consulting company in Montreal, where I was in charge of R&D, IT, Telecom projects management and technical coordination. Meanwhile, I served as Research Advisor for several undergraduate, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Since November 2012, I work as IT Director and CTO at an international trading company, where I am in charge of IT and R&D projects. The passion for teaching and my business administration experiences bring me to English Montreal School Board, where I am teaching "Starting a Business in Canada" for new immigrants and Canadian entrepreneurs.
I also have a great passion for doing research on mobile computing and wireless networks. So far, I have obtained 3 US patents, published 1 book, 6 book chapters, 6 journal papers and 9 conference papers. My research interests include mobile computing, wireless network, telecommunication system, 4G network design and optimization, operations research, to name a few.
I was a student member of IEEE and ACM from 2006 to 2008, and a member of Polytechnique Alumni Association (ADP) since 2008. I have been serving as a volunteer in Montreal Chinese Alliance Grace Church since 2001. I am so happy to have a blessed marriage with two adorable boys: Caleb and Daniel.
