Champlain College Dublin Centre - Dublin Campus (Ireland)
Beginning in Fall 2008, the Champlain College Dublin Centre experience is open to students from all Champlain College programs. Originally founded as a Viking settlement, Dublin is steeped in ancient Celtic heritage. Since medieval times Dublin has been the hub of much of Ireland's history. Today, Dublin serves as Ireland's economic, administrative and cultural center. Fall in Ireland is a time of festivals - the Bulmer's Comedy Festival, The Fringe and Hallowfest - while spring brings the ultimate Irish festival, St. Patrick's Day. Irish music, dance and culture are part of everyday life in Dublin, as is the influence of the Asian, African and European communities. Getting around Dublin from Champlain's campus is easy using the city's public transportation system, or even by bicycle. Academic Experience
Since Dublin's leading employers are Microsoft, Dell, Intel and Google, students in Business and Information Technology may be particularly attracted to this experience. The small, intimate nature of the Champlain College Dublin Centre features courses aimed at students in their junior and/or senior years. Courses at the Dublin campus are taught by local Champlain College faculty, and will include a range of program-specific courses in history, literature and intercultural communication, plus a required cultural immersion course. All courses are adapted to take advantage of all that Dublin has to offer. Internships will not be available this year through our Champlain Program, but students interested in a summer internship can check out the University College Dublin summer internship program. Students in other programs may be able to create internships specific to their program needs. Champlain online courses will be available to students who satisfy the curriculum requirements and have special program needs. Students attending Champlain College Dublin Centre will interact with their Irish peers in classes, community-based work and extra-curricular activities.
Dublin Facilities
Champlain College Dublin Centre comprises two buildings, including the Academic Center on 43 Lower Leeson Street and the residence hall. The Academic Center is close to St. Stephens Green and in the heart of Dublins Georgian office district and located directly on major bus lines. The four story historic Georgian building has four classrooms, a computer lab and a comfortable lounge for students to relax, study, work online, eat and enjoy the academic and social environment.
The student residence has 2- and 3-person rooms (some with en-suite bathroom, some with shared bath) with a dining area. The residence is located on a major bus line and only a ten-minute walk to the academic center.
