An Optional Specialization for
Computer & Digital Forensics Majors

In 2010, the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) received the second-highest number of complaints since its inception. IC3 also reached a major milestone the same year when it received its two-millionth complaint. On average, the IC3 receives and processes 25,000 complaints per month. Criminal activity through the Internet and within networks is growing increasingly complex.

The CyberInvestigation specialization will give you the specialized skills you need to capitalize on this exploding area of the digital forensics field.


 Through this specialization, you will:

  • Gain understanding of the theory and fundamentals of criminal investigation, from the crime scene to the courtroom, will help you gain a solid grounding on today's cyber investigations.
  • Learn principles and practices of investigative interviewing, and delve into previous cases of criminal and White-collar crime.
  • Be able to conduct a cyber investigation and be able to evaluate cyber crime scenes and recommend proper courses of action for digital forensic investigators.
