Computer & Digital Forensics Majors

Managing risks related to the use and transmission of information or data is the fundamental concept behind information assurance. The information stored on networks is often viewed as a very valuable asset to governments and corporations.  Companies need to be able to react and sometimes determine the source of the data breach or leak. That's where digital forensics comes in.

If you choose to specialize in Information Assurance, you will:

• examine the rationale and necessity for securing computer systems and data networks, as well as methodologies for implementing security, security policies, best current practices, testing security and incident response.
• study the fundamentals of current Windows server systems and network administration.
• be able to create and maintain secure computer systems, be able to identify risks, and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
