Currently, our Radiography major is a two-year Associate of Science degree program. The Radiography major teaches students one of the most important uses of complex technology—aiding in the diagnosis of trauma and disease.
Upon completion of their academic and internship requirements, graduates of Champlain College's undergraduate Radiography Program will:
- Students will be Clinically Competent:
- Anticipate and provide basic care and comfort.
- Students will determine exposure factors to obtain diagnostic quality radiographs with minimum radiation exposure.
- Practice radiation protection for the patient, self and others.
- Position the patient and imaging system to perform radiographic examinations on children and adults.
- Students will communication effectively:
- Students will use effective non-verbal, oral and written communication in patient care and professional relationships.
- Educate the patient about radiographic procedures and services.
- Students will use critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Students will exercise independent judgment and discretion in the technical performance of medical imaging procedures consistent with uniform standards of care.
- Students will evaluate medical images for technical quality.
- Students will explore the importance of professional growth and development.
- Students will exhibit professional practice in accordance with the Code of Ethics and Scope of Practice for the Profession.
- Students will determine the importance of continued professional development.
- The Program will graduate entry level technologists.
- Students will pass the ARRT national certification on the first attempt.
- Of those pursuing employment, students will be gainfully employed within 6 months post-graduation.
- Students will complete the program within 21 months.
- Students will be satisfied with their education.
- Employers will be satisfied with the graduate's performance.
