Through the Human Resource Management specialization, you will gain an understanding of the role of "human capital" and how modern HR policies and practices can help build a sustainable organization.

Human resource managers are needed in virtually every industry and type of organization. The U.S. Department of Labor predicts employment of HR managers will grow by 13 percent from 2012 to 2022. HR career paths may include specialist positions in areas such as recruiting, training, benefits administration, labor relations and employee counseling.

In the Human Resource Management specialization for Business Administration majors, you will:

  • Examine the opportunities and problems involved in managing human capital in organizations.
  • Learn to identify and overcome possible sources of conflict in interpersonal, group and organizational contexts.
  • Study the legal aspects of managing human resources with an emphasis on laws relating to recruiting, hiring, compensation, and benefits administration.
  • Examine the roles of performance appraisals, employee incentive programs, employee and employer rights, and labor relations.
