Cybersecurity Specialization

All students in the Computer Networking & Cybersecurity program must select a focus area of study to complete their degree. Students can choose one of the many minors offered, or they can specialize in Network Administration or Cybersecurity.

Cybersecurity scenarios offer complex technical problems, often involving multiple computers, operating systems, databases and network services operating between businesses and government agencies. The situations may involve multiple countries and cultures, and involve complex legal and policy issues. People with this background and these skills are in high demand and can help contribute to the security of our Internet and computer experiences.

This 15-credit specialization:

  • Provides a foundation for understanding how computers and networks communicate securely.
  • Builds on that foundation with courses designed to help students understand the nature and impact of cyber threats, as well as how to prevent them.
  • Gives students experience dealing with situations involving sensitive data for individual users, corporate users and government agencies.
