Are you super active on Twitter, Instagram, Vine, Pinterest? Are you interested in helping organizations develop and market their image? Do you enjoy problem-solving? Public communication professionals thrive on being in the middle of the action and getting others involved. Our program is on the cutting edge of social media, digital marketing and innovative public relations, packed with applied learning for students through work with clients.
As a Public Relations major, you'll get a grounding in public relations, writing, marketing, analytics, advertising, graphic design, web design and strategic planning. Then you will learn how to use your outgoing personality, ability to communicate effectively, organizational skills, social media savvy and love of social interaction to help your client's cause.
Through our Upside-Down Curriculum, you'll take relevant Public Relations courses, including Media & Society and Public Speaking, in your first year. With our hands-on approach, you'll be partnered with clients to create real-world public relations campaigns. Throughout your four years at Champlain, you'll build a highly marketable resume and portfolio as you write press kits, news releases, brochures and newsletters, as well as conduct audience research, and develop and implement strategic and social media plans for clients in the area. We designed the curriculum of our majors to support a semester of international study, which means you can study in another country, even complete an internship abroad, and still graduate on time. You can choose to take your international study at our campus in Montreal, Canada, or in Dublin, Ireland, or through one of our Global Partners or third-party programs.
