A strong start is an important part of your college experience, and our Orientation program is designed to give you just that. Interested in meeting new friends, touring the campus, and learning about the services and opportunities that Champlain offers? Then Orientation is for you!
We invite all new students to attend our Champlain College Orientation program. During Orientation, you will meet your academic program faculty and advisors, learn about important services and opportunities available throughout the academic year, and begin to make new and lasting friendships.
The program starts at 8:00 AM on Friday, August 25 when the residence halls open. You and your family will have the morning to get your things settled into your residence hall. You'll be assisted by Orientation Leaders, Resident Assistants (RAs) and move-in crews. You might even have Don Laackman (the President of Champlain) on your move-in crew.
After moving in, students and families should head to the residence halls for formal check-in. At check-in, students and families receive their full Orientation schedules.
We encourage families to participate in the Orientation program on Friday, August 25 through the President's Welcome. You can help your students move into their new homes, enjoy the BBQ lunch, explore our vendor tables to tie up any loose ends, and hear from President Donald J. Laackman. After the President speaks, part ways with your student as they go off with their Orientation groups. But we won't send you off empty-handed—we have a small gift for you before you leave, so you can bring a bit of Champlain home.
In the past, our program has received rave reviews. This year our Orientation Leaders are super pumped to create an exciting, fun-filled and informative weekend to kick off your time at Champlain.
We look forward to seeing you! If you have questions about Orientation, please contact Jared Cadrette at email@example.com.
"Coming into college, I was as nervous as they come. Orientation showed me that the rest of my class was in the same boat I was, and that there were plenty of people around to help me. Now, I have been part of the Orientation Leader team three times and have been able to help numerous incoming students see the same things I did during that weekend. I found a home at Champlain, and I am confident that with the right resources, each incoming student can do the same—it's a great thing to see happen!"
