Support a Student Program
What is the Support-A-Student Program?
Support-A-Student grants are the ultimate factor in whether or not a student is able to pursue his or her educational goals. This vital program helps fill the gap for students who have exhausted all other financial resources. For many students there is still a sizable need, even after they have taken out the maximum amount of loans and after their families have provided all they can afford. To ensure that a student will receive the maximum benefit from your generosity, 100% of your contribution goes directly into the Support-A-Student fund.
Why is this program so important?
The goal of Champlain College is to ensure that no qualified student is denied access to a Champlain education due to a lack of funds. Although the cost of a Champlain education is still less than most private colleges, the need to increase monies available is very real. Your support of the Support-A-Student program is instrumental in helping us work toward this goal.
Who receives Support-A-Student grants?
Over 400 Champlain students received Support-A-Student grants last year. The typical student is from a low to middle-income family. Many of our students are first-generation college students. More than 7,400 students have benefited from the Support-A-Student Program since its inception in 1982. Despite its successes, we are only able to help one of every two people who request these funds. Your additional support can make a difference.
When you make a gift to the Support-A-Student program, the funds are distributed to those students with the most need for financial assistance. Read thank you letters from recipients of the Support-A-Student scholarship.
