Admission and Retention Criteria

The criteria for admission and retention of students in the BYOBiz program are:

An ongoing early stage business or the ability to articulate a business model and entrepreneurial concept
The desire and motivation to succeed in this business venture.
Willingness to adhere to the policies and procedures of the BYOBiz program and Champlain College.
Maintain good academic standing in their chosen Champlain undergraduate or graduate degree program.
A business that complements the other businesses in the program and that displays the promise of success and growth.

CONCEPT STATEMENT Complete the Concept Statement below. Each numbered element of the Concept Statement should be answered in one or two sentences only. Students may be contacted by BYOBiz staff for more information following submission of their application. 1. Description of the product or service being offered -- Tell us about your business. 2. Target Market -- Who will be buying your product or service? 3. Benefits of the product or service -- Why will people buy your product or service? 4. How is your product or service positioned relative to your competitors’ product/service? -- Why is your’s unique or better? What do you have that others don’t? 5. How will your product or service be sold? -- Door to door? Retail? Wholesale business to business? On the Internet? 6. Tell us about yourself and any other people on your team. -- What is your role?
