  • constructing well-reasoned persuasive speeches
  • writing clear and interesting speeches to inform
  • improving oral skills, such as expanding the range of vocal choices
  • developing appropriate nonverbal communication techniques
  • controlling nervousness and developing confidence as a public speaker

About our O.C. Lab Tutors:

  • Leanne Gilardi is a junior studying Public Relations. This will be her second year as a tutor at the Oral Communications Lab and she is very excited for another successful year working with students. Leanne is also a Peer Advisor on campus and she is truly passionate about helping out her peers and getting involved with activities on campus. In her spare time she enjoys relaxing with her housemates and friends, knitting and finding exciting things to do around Burlington.
  • Anna Nadeau is finishing up her senior year studying Graphic Design, and is looking forward to finding a local design firm to become a part of at the end of the year. This is Anna's second year as an Oral Communications Lab tutor, and when not on campus you can find her cooking at home, taking pilates, and spending time with friends.
  • Lauren Palazzo is a sophomore majoring in Public Relations at Champlain College. This is her first year in the Oral Communications lab and she is excited to help other students. Public Speaking is one of Lauren’s favorite courses at Champlain College. Outside of school, she enjoys taking photography and ceramics classes.
