Ellen Emery: TAP Director

Ellen received her undergraduate degree from the University of Vermont in both Spanish and Math and her M.Ed from Saint Michael's College. Following her 17 years as a classroom teacher in the Essex Junction school system and her 10 years as the district-wide new teacher mentor program coordinator, Ellen brings a exceptional level of expertise in the areas of curriculum, instruction, and assessment to the TAP Program. She is passionate about working with pre-service and novice teachers! Most recently, Ellen has participated actively in the development of the new teacher licensure portfolio for the State of Vermont.

Jane Goodman - Field Supervisor

Jane worked in th Chittenden Central Supervisory Union for 37 years. She was a teacher, Department Chair, and founder of the Teacher Apprenticeship Program. Jane has worked extensively with new and veteran educators in a variety of roles and mentorships.

Caitlin Hollister - Associate Director

Caitlin Hollister comes to TAP from the Boston Public Schools where she spent nine years teaching third grade. A National Board Certified Teacher, Caitlin was recognized as one of the city's Educators of the Year in 2011. One of her favorite roles was that of mentor, working with almost a dozen student teachers to launch their careers in education. From 2007- 2009, Caitlin served as a TeachPlus Teaching Policy Fellow, focusing on licensure reform in Massachusetts. In 2011, she served on the state's Task Force on Educator Effectiveness to develop new regulations for educator evaluation systems. A graduate of the Boston Teacher Residency Program, Caitlin holds a bachelor's degree in history from Brown University and a master's degree in teaching from UMass Boston. Caitlin lives, skies and hikes in Waterbury with her husband and two young children.

Mary Beth McNulty - Associate Director

After graduating the University of Virginia with an undergraduate degree in English and a master’s of teaching, Mary Beth began her career teaching English and theatre at the middle school level in Los Angeles. Outside of the classroom, she worked at the Vermont Agency of Education (AOE) developing teacher and leadership standards, education policy, and regulations. During her tenure at the AOE, Mary Beth worked with every teacher preparation program in the state. Currently, Mary Beth runs an education consulting business and is a co-founder and director of Project Shift, an educational non-profit that promotes Video-Reflective Practice. She is also a playwright and teaching artist, and Mary Beth continues to love working with adolescents today in this capacity!

Shawn Willis - Associate Director

Shawn is a native Vermonter who has been teaching Science and Math in her home state for 24 years. She graduated from the University of Vermont in Biology and worked in the field of Environmental Science before deciding to teach. Shawn was recognized with the UVM Outstanding Teacher Award and invited to present for the National Science Foundation at the NSTA (National Science Teachers’ Association) for three years. A favorite teaching memory for Shawn was celebrating her 20th anniversary of teaching in Switzerland in 2013, where she taught Science and Math at the Zurich International School! Working with the TAP program is truly an exciting new step for her!
