Step up to the plate! Learn how to integrate personal financial education into your classes.

- Scholarships are available based on need. Also need-based assistance with room and board offered.

|Curriculum:||Based on the Jump$tart Teacher Training Alliance Curriculum created by a national steering committee.|
Participants receive a "Tool Kit" of personal finance resources worth $400 that includes a free collegiate-level personal finance textbook and a range of classroom-ready instructional materials that includes books and games in print and electronic formats. Also, all information presented in class will be captured in a dedicated Summer Institute Wiki Website for online use after the class.

HELP YOUR STUDENTS PREPARE FOR A LIFETIME OF FINANCIAL WELL-BEING
If you are like most teachers, you believe financial literacy should be part of the education of our young students. As a participating teacher at the Summer Institute, you will gain the framework, competencies and confidence to integrate financial literacy into your middle school or high school classroom-leaving the week-long program with a concrete plan ready for the start of the school year in the fall.
Applications are being for the Vermont Teachers Financial Literacy Summer Institute 2013 until May 17, 2013. Accepted teachers will be notified no later than June 3, 2013. The earlier you apply, the sooner you will hear from us. The is the last year that the Summer Institute will be offered to Vermont teachers.
The Center for Financial Literacy and Merchants Bank aim to have participation from at least 75 percent of Vermont Supervisory Unions and to provide this professional development opportunity to over 100 Vermont high school and middle school teachers. The 2013 Summer Institute is the third and last offering of the educational opportunity.
The Curriculum: A Prototype for Excellence
The Summer Institute uses a high-quality curriculum that consolidates the best in financial literacy education as compiled by a national steering committee made up of the Jump$tart Coalition, National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE), Council for Economic Education, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), Family Economics and Financial Education, Junior Achievement, U.S. Department of Education, and U.S. Department of the Treasury.
