Champlain College’s Center for Digital Investigation (C3DI) provides computer forensics and digital investigation operational support, training, research, and other technical services to assist law enforcement agencies in Vermont and throughout the nation in areas related to computer forensics and other digital investigations.
Mission
The overriding mission of the Champlain College Center for Digital Investigation (C3DI) is to advance the field of digital investigation practice, with a particular focus on law enforcement and the public sector.
The Center for Digital Investigation (C3DI) will act as:
- A center of education, training, and information resources for digital investigation, law enforcement, government and higher education communities
- A credible and neutral source of information and services for Vermont and the Northeast region of the United States
- A research and professional development hub for Champlain College students and faculty
Projects
The Champlain College Center for Digital Investigation (C3DI) has been developed to advance three major initiatives.
- The first project aims to increase the computer forensics examination capacity for law enforcement in Vermont. The C3DI will fund a full-time computer forensics examiner to support local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies in Vermont and northern New York
- Working with several partner training organizations, the C3DI and Champlain College will create new online training opportunities that are available to members of law enforcement in Vermont and across the country
- The C3DI will also fund a full-time adjunct faculty member for the Champlain College's Computer & Digital Forensics program, as well as new undergraduate research initiatives
The C3DI is made possible by funding from the U.S. Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) and Champlain College, as well as material support from the Burlington Police Department and the Vermont Internet Crimes Task Force (ICTF).
