Champlain Publishing

The Champlain College Publishing Initiative (CCPI) has been created in order to engage Champlain students in the contemporary field of publishing, whether as writers, editors, designers, artists, marketers, publicists, accountants or Web designers, and to give them a supervised educational experience that is creative, demanding, and applicable to the world they will meet when they graduate.

According to Alisha Durgin, student publicist for CCPI, "We work with a variety of authors and organizations to help them develop their ideas to the point where they are ready for the printer-or publication in an electronic or online form. The author is the publisher, and retains the copyright. We also provide support after publication, in the form of promotion and marketing." After just a few months, the CCPI titles included:
Tim BrooksThirty Percent Chance of Enlightenment by Tim Brookes: A National Geographic assignment gone wrong leads to a road trip across South India in search of the meaning of water.
The Short, Sweet Guide to Dialogue by Tim Brookes and Natalia Yaacob: A compressed introduction to the skills of writing credible, effective dialogue, with examples.
The Best Student Creative Non-Fiction, featuring work by Champlain students in the memoir, essay, and narrative traditions.
Best Student Travel Writing featuring the work of Champlain students in an anthology of travel memoirs.
25 Squirrels by Ali Wisch: A new short play, featuring three slackers, a mobster, and a dead cat.
East Slade, Maine by Christopher Lawless: A collection of poems about a mythical town in Maine.
