How it works

At Champlain College, online learning is all about flexibility and choices. It’s about accessing your education at your convenience.

Unlike at other colleges that require you to be online at specific times each week, you can choose to go online to read and download lectures, view assignments, reply to discussions and take tests when it fits your schedule.

Upon registration, you will learn how to activate your account and access your course. Then, you’ll be able to log in to your course whenever it is convenient for you—24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Once the course begins, your lectures and assignments will be posted in a forum and will remain there for the entire semester. You can either read them on the screen or print them out for further reference.

The tools for submitting your work are built right into the course, including an assignment tool, a testing tool and even a self-contained email for contacting your classmates and professor. For classes that require you to use special software—such as programming languages and Web page design applications—you will transfer files to a special student server.

All requirements will be clearly stated in the course syllabus. And although you will be expected to adhere to due dates, there are usually no requirements for what time of day—or even which day—you need to log in.
