These workshops are "Online Budgeting and Goal Setting" and "Financing Your First Car" (details follow below). All work will be reviewed before students can earn credit for any online workshops.

Students who have already taken a live workshop on budgeting should note that they cannot receive LEAD credit for the online version of this workshop. To avoid confusion, those students will not be able to access the course through Canvas.

Online Budgeting & Goal Setting (Accessible through Canvas.)

Do any of these sound like you?

  • Want to buy a new car when you graduate?
  • Want to go to more concerts?
  • Want to travel abroad?

Even for those who know what their goals are, many don't know the cost. Even fewer people have taken the cost of saving for their goals into account in their budgets.

What steps are you taking to work towards achieving your goals? In order to become successful in saving for your financial goals, you have to work at it intentionally. This workshop will teach you how!

This goal-setting and budgeting workshop will cover topics of personal finance: You will learn strategies and tips on goal setting, budgeting and tracking your money in a non-judgmental setting. You will leave with tools and skills you need to accomplish your financial goals, whatever they may be.

Please note If you have already attended the live budgeting workshop, you cannot receive LEAD credit for participating in this online workshop; although you are always welcome to participate and you work will be reviewed.

Financing Your First Car

So you're thinking about buying your first car, but are you thinking about what your future car will really cost you?

  • What will the finance charges be?
  • Do you know what the best loan term for your financial situation is?
  • How much will this car really cost you per month after gas, insurance and repairs are considered?

In this workshop you will think about your priorities, do preliminary research and finally pick three cars to investigate fully. In completing this workshop, you will learn about and use online tools that will help you estimate all the costs around buying your first car.

Once you've finished your work, you'll have a real estimate of what a new and used car will cost you, and, hopefully, you'll have picked a car that will work for your lifestyle and budget.

Please note: This online workshop concentrates on the financing and budgeting costs involved with buying your first car. If you are interested in the experience of buying a car, you should also attend our live Buying Your First Car Workshop which covers: negotiating, dealer tactics, financing details and scams to look out for.
