The Game of Life

Students participate in the Game of Life Financial Sophistication workshop.

The LEAD Department is proud to bring the Game of Life to Champlain College, an event is based on a budget simulation created by Brockton High School and the FDIC, designed to get you thinking about what your financial life could look like after college.

Based on the average salary of  your degree post-graduation, you'll be given money to spend on housing and utilities. Choose between having a new car or owning a dog, or having suitable professional attire for work and buying that 60" TV. Figure out how much you can put into savings and retirement after you pay off your student loans and insurance. All of these choices will help you learn about the importance of maintaining a balanced budget, while having a great time with your friends and earning LEAD credit. Before you leave the Game of Life, you'll review your budget with a trained peer counselor.
