Office of Student Conduct

Our mission is to create a safe and respectful environment for students, faculty, staff and other community members, while insuring positive outcomes and learning for students who find themselves in challenging situations. Our responsibility is to insure student safety at all times and protect our community from any type of risk.

We believe conduct management should be just as much about positive, proactive work as it is about responding to negative behavior. We believe we have the responsibility to prepare students by educating them about what it means to be a member of the Champlain College community and eventually a contributing member of society. We hope to create opportunities for students to assume responsibility for the consequences of personal actions through dialogue and learning. Involving many stakeholders: parents, faculty, student life staff, peers, police and community agencies is an important component of the process, and good way to facilitate the infusion of the Standard of Conduct into students' lives.  We believe graduates of Champlain College will take this learning with them into the work place.

Noteworthy incidents involving student behavior issues come to the attention of the Office of Student Conduct through the online incident reporting system. Once a report is filed it may be forwarded to a conduct officer for adjudication or the case may be forwarded to one of three Boards: The Peer Review Board, The Conduct Review Board or the Academic Conduct Review Board. The forwarding of cases is at the discretion of the Office of Student Conduct.
