Tawnya has earned her Master's in Social Work degree from McGill University and a post-graduate certificate in the Clinical Treatment of Children and Adolescents from Smith College of Social Work. Her clinical employment has been working in the mental health field specializing in children, adolescents, trauma, women, sexuality, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Prior to joining the Social Work Program at Champlain College in 2009, Tawnya was a member of the Social Work Faculty and Director of Field Education, SUNY Plattsburgh, and held adjunct positions at Champlain College, Johnson State College, and Trinity College of Vermont. In addition to her role as the Social Work Program Field Education Coordinator and Assistant Professor she teaches courses in Human Behavior and the Social Environment, Social Injustice in a Diverse Society, Advanced Social Work Practice, Rural Social Work, and the Integrated Field Practicum Seminars. Tawnya's academic interests include field education, human behavior, sexuality, gender-ism in mental health diagnosis, adolescents, resiliency, and GLBT issues.
