Sue Rowley
Sue Rowley is the Dean of Education & Human Studies. She was the first director of Champlain's Applied Psychology major, became Interim Dean in 2006, and began her current role as Dean in 2007. Her career at Champlain started in 1990 as the College's first full time faculty member in psychology. Over the years, the offerings in this field have grown steadily, culminating in the launch of the new major in the fall of 2003. Besides the development of the new major, Sue is involved with a number of campus-wide projects such as the Faculty Senate, NESAC Accreditation Study and Strategic Planning.
Sue began teaching high school history after graduation from Trinity College of Vermont. Volunteer work with the Court Diversion Program for first offenders piqued her curiosity about psychology and eventually compelled Sue to earn her master's and doctorate degrees from the University of Vermont. While at the University she taught, worked on research projects investigating human development in disabled and disadvantaged populations, and interned with the State of Vermont's Social and Rehabilitative Division.
