Excellence in Executive Leadership (ExcEL)

Notes: Manager Sign-off, Competitive Selection Process, held each fall

Excellence in Executive Leadership (ExcEL)

This is a public program designed for senior executives at the Vice President or higher level within an organization. There is a rigorous application process and CEO or Board Chair support is required. ExcEL participants examine the keys to successful ExcEL participants examine the keys to successful leadership in a cohort of peers. They learn to develop an effective leadership practice through relevant, engaged interaction with cohort members, leadership education delivered by executive coaches.

Prerequisites: Manager Sign-off/Competitive Selection Process Cost: $ 5500

We will discuss the formal structures that Champlain College has in place to assist Managers in recognition and explore non-formal, simple, and fun ways to recognize employees.

Work-Study Supervisor Trainings:

Intended Audience: Required for faculty and staff who supervise Work-Study students

Description: This workshop is an overview of Work-Study supervisor information and new processes within Workday. It will include how to create a job requisition, hire/create applicant, program updates, student onboarding details, student communications, contracts for students and supervisors, and a Career Services update.

KnowledgeWave — NEW Technical Training Opportunities- Available November 1st

Intended Audience: Faculty and Staff

We are excited to announce that Champlain College and DareU has partnered with KnowledgeWave to offer educational benefits to our employees - both online (Log On To Learn) and in the classroom at their South Burlington location.  Select trainings in Microsoft Office applications will enhance knowledge, skills, and productivity.  Employees will also have access to self-guided videos and tutorials for more on-demand needs.

Types of Learning Opportunities?

  • Human Resources and Organizational Development has sponsored and paid for our employees to take Microsoft productivity courses.  These courses will help employees enhance their Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, Publisher or Adobe Acrobat skills.  Typically, these courses are priced up to $249.  These courses may be taken online or at KnowledgeWave site in South Burlington. 
  • Champlain College employees will receive a 20% discount on all other Microsoft productivity courses that are priced at $250 or more.  *Please note that these courses will be paid for by your department's budget.  These courses may be taken online or at KnowledgeWave site in South Burlington.
  • In addition, employees will receive a 10% discount on all non-Microsoft productivity courses and technical/IT training courses such as Adobe, SharePoint/Server/SQL/VMare, etc. *Please note that these courses will be paid for by your department's budget. These courses may be taken online or at KnowledgeWave site in South Burlington.

How do faculty and staff members register for the above classes?

  • To register for a class, faculty adn staff will discuss their needs in advance with their manager.
  • After manager approval, the faculty or staff member will wimply eamil KnowledgeWave at education@knowledgewave.com or call 800.831.8449.
  • Each faculty and staff memeber will need to state they are an employee of Champlain College.  KnowledgeWave will verify your employment at Champlain College.

Log On To Learn

Champlain College employees have access to Log On To Learn provided by KnowledgeWave.  The library contains manuals and videos that provide practical, on-demand instruction on Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite and more.  Each employee will be able to create their own account with this system for a more personalized educational experience. These classes can be taken at any time.

Username: Your Champlain email address

Temporary Password: password1

*Please note that usernames and passwords are case sensitive. Your username is your email address and should be entered in all lowercase.

When logging in for the first time you will be prompted to select some profiles options. We recommend that you accept the defaults. You can change settings in the future. Please follow the steps below to create a new unique password for yourself.

To change your default password:

  1. Click Manage Profileon the top right.

  2. Click Edit Bio

  3. Click (change) next to Password.

The new password must be a minimum of eight (8) characters in length and contain at least one number and one non-numeric character (letters, punctuation, etc.)

Champlain College Wellbeing Programs

Strength and Stretch

Are you just getting back into the world of fitness? Or you don't have time to sweat and shower but still want the benefits of bone strengthening, increased cardiovascular and flexibility conditioning? This is the place to be! This class is free for all Champlain employees this summer and does not require registration. It is held in Lakeside 101/102
The Strength and Tone classes will be held every Tuesday.

Read or tutor a child in our local school district. The commitment is just one day a week for the academic year. Mentoring is one of the most memorable and rewarding things you can do with your time and you're sure to come back to work smiling and feeling good about your day!
