Federal Work-Study Program
Federal Work-Study (FWS) provides part-time jobs for undergraduate students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay educational expenses. In addition to the financial benefits, FWS positions build responsibility and discipline, offer additional learning experiences which build on classroom instruction, provide opportunities to work with faculty and administrators, and give students the possibility to add new job-related skills to their resumes.
Students awarded FWS as part of their financial aid award work an average of 10-15 hours per week. Work-study jobs consist of on-campus positions and off-campus community service positions. The amount of FWS assistance reflects both the degree of financial need and a reasonable projection of the amount possible to earn during an academic year. Earnings are paid bi-weekly to students and are not applied directly to their bills.
Additional work study information will be distributed in the summer to students awarded FWS as part of their financial aid award.
