You Are Invited to a Murder Mystery Dinner!

The year is 1979 and the place is trendy Manhattan, New York City. You are spending the evening at Studio Manhattan, a chic and glamorous New York discotheque frequented by the rich and famous. Tonight's exclusive crowd of celebrities is feverishly dancing the Hustle to the throbbing rhythmic beat of disco.

The music stops abruptly when the club's owner, Jackie Fever, is found murdered in her backstage office. The flamboyant Ms. Fever was fatally stabbed -- obviously by someone she knew. You -- and everyone else -- is a suspect!

During dinner, we will play an interactive murder mystery game in order to discover the true identity of the killer. You will play one of the following characters: Bruce Leap, movie star and martial arts expert; John Revolting, disco dance champion; Diana Rush, chart-topping singer; Andy Warthog, hip new artist; Gloria Stunnem, outspoken feminist leader; and Lyza M, actress, singer, and dancer.

We'll assign final parts when everyone arrives, so just bring all your favorite Seventies stuff and plan to swap with your dorm-mates to get the perfect look.

Behavioral Guidelines

During Classroom Sessions, Field Trips and Presentations
We are all here to learn with a limited amount of time in which to absorb as much as possible, so please be respectful of your classmates and your instructors during class time. Radios, cell phones, etc. should be off during classes, field trips and presentations etc. On the computers please restrain from emailing or using Instant Messenger unless asked to. Believe it or not, you may be asked to use Instant Messenger. We are techies too, you know!

If you have questions, please be sure to ask. If you feel you already know what is being covered, please politely let the instructor know. As students, you will all be coming in at differing levels of knowledge in the completely different fields. Even instructors will present information in different ways and at different levels at different times. Due to the small class sizes we can fine-tune the instruction to fit your needs. It is a wonderful gift to both you and us. So please politely ask questions, tell us or show us what you know and partake to the fullest.

You should not change computers, leave the room without permission or disrupt the classroom. Students who are disruptive will be asked to leave the program with no refund.

In the Dorms
Men and women will be housed separately and are prohibited at all times from access to the rooms of the opposite sex. At no time should there be loud music.

You are required to be in your dorms at 10:30 p.m. A student count happens at 11:00 p.m. and you must be in your room getting ready for bed. Overhead lights out at 11:00 p.m. and desk lamps out at 11:15 p.m. You may only leave your room to go to the bathroom or speak with your R.A. if there is a problem of ANY sort. Reckless dorm behavior will result in the same consequences as above. Any damages incurred will be billed to your parents.

Smoking and Alcohol
Use, possession, storage or attempt to purchase alcohol, cigarettes or illegal substances is prohibited. Students found with such substances will be removed from the program and may be subject to criminal charges.

Fire Safety
Fire codes and safety ordinances prohibit the misuse, removal or tampering with all safety equipment including fire hoses, extinguishers, window screens and windows. Exits will be pointed out upon your arrival. Open flame objects, such as candles, incense, etc. are prohibited. Students who violate these provisions may be removed from the program.

In Case of Fire
In case of fire or heavy visible smoke, set off the nearest fire alarm. Once the alarm sounds, all students must immediately evacuate the building. If the student is able to leave his/her room, he/she should:

  • Be sure to wear shoes because of possible hot or broken glass or hot stairs and flooring
  • Carry a towel, if possible, to cover face if smoke is encountered
  • Close all windows and doors after passing through
  • Use the stairs NOT elevators
  • If a door is too hot to touch, do NOT open it. Wedge a cloth around the cracks and remain in the room, open a window & wave an object and attract rescue workers
  • Everyone must then meet in the following places dependent on your dorm:
    • McDonald: The parking lot west of the building.
    • Lyman: the parking lot associated with West Hall on the west side of Lyman.
    • Main Street Suites-the grassy knoll on the north side of the building next to the sidewalk.
