Diversity in Burlington
Burlington's demographics are in constant evolution. For example, as of the 2000 Census, people of color compromised 9% of the population; the expectation for the 2010 Census is that that number will rise to as high as 15% of the city's total population, creating a city even deeper cultural texture
As a US Refugee Resettlement city, Burlington is home to families from all over the world. In the Burlington Supervisory School District, more than 50 languages are spoken and 25% of the student body represents multiracial and students of color. Some schools in the District have percentages of students of color representing as much as 40% of the total student body.
